HISTORY OF THe Clock Tower

The Generator is proud to operate out of a building that has always remained a centrepiece of connectivity and communication for the Bundaberg region.

1879 — The New Bundaberg Post Office was erected on the Corner of Barolin and Bourbong street.
1886 — First telephone exchange opened.
1890 — Existing Post Office and telegraph building opened at a cost of £6000.
1893 to 1925 — The top floor of the Bundaberg Post Office (The Generator's Mainspace) housed the Australia terminal for the under-sea telecommunications cable that ran via New Caledonia. This laid the foundation for connecting Bundaberg to the world.

"The outside world is in this room in terms of what you're doing" — Senator James McGrath, Assistant Minister to the Prime Minister of Australia
